Fast loading times For the Google ranking fast loading times of a website are more important than ever. Thatt´s because the Internet has become more fast-paced. Users prefer to access information more quickly and effortlessly.

Short videos on YouTube are preferred to longer ones, news are read in a few short lines, and personal information is also shared briefly and concisely rather than in long paragraphs
(keyword: Twitter).

Of course this trend has also struck the Internet giant Google.

That's why Google rates fast loading times as one of the most important factors in its ranking. But what are good or bad loading times in practice? Although SEO experts are largely divided on this issue, Google has a clear opinion on the subject. According to official information from the world's largest search engine, the loading time of a website should not exceed 1.5 seconds. The faster a page loads, the better Google ranks it. There is also another advantage of websites that load faster. So-called Google bots crawl websites across the Internet to keep track of updates. The slower a page loads when Google bots visit it, the more costs are incurred for Google.

Therefore, the algorithm is designed in order to crawl slower pages less often. Thus new content of websites is updated and indexed less frequently, which leads to a loss of potential traffic. Fast loading times are not only important for effective search engine optimization. Today's website visitor is impatient. As soon as the loading time exceeds two seconds, he gets nervous and leaves the page. This leads to a higher bounce rate. It often helps to remove complex CSS codes from the HTML code and transfer them into separate data packages.

The caching function should also be used. If a user visits the page a second time, the page content is temporarily stored on the visitor's computer and thus loaded faster. In addition, this saves valuable network traffic. Another important factor for fast loading times are the images of a website. The less memory space an image requires, the faster it loads. Especially with image-heavy pages that use high-resolution images, there are often problems with slow loading times. For this reason, images should be converted to the correct format and scaled before uploading.

Google prefers websites that can be loaded quickly.
  • Optmize CSS and Javascript to minified
  • Optimize images in the file size
  • Do not use large script elements that require long load times
  • Optimize the content of your page to exactly what is needed, not more and not less
